How This Site Is Paid For
Most Medicare websites bury this. We'd rather you read it: what CarePlan65 is, what it isn't, and who pays us when.
What CarePlan65 is not
- Not the government. We are not connected with, endorsed by, or affiliated with Medicare, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the Social Security Administration, the U.S. government, or the State of California.
- Not an insurance company or agency. We do not sell insurance, we are not licensed to sell insurance, we cannot enroll you in any plan, and we do not give advice about which specific plan to buy.
- Not a data business. We do not collect, store, or sell your personal information. The 2-minute check runs entirely in your browser; your answers are never transmitted to us or anyone else.
How the money works
Educational content and the check are free, always. Our compensation, when it exists, comes from two clearly labeled sources:
- Advertised partner phone numbers. If we display a partner number and you call it, you will reach a licensed insurance agent (not CarePlan65 staff and not a government office) who may discuss insurance products with you. The partner may pay us for that call. Every partner number is labeled as such where it appears, and government numbers (1-800-MEDICARE, HICAP) are never compensated.
- Partner comparison links. If we display a partner link to compare or shop for plans and you use it, the partner may pay us for the referral or a resulting enrollment. These links are labeled, and the official non-commercial alternative, Medicare.gov's plan finder, is linked on the same screens.
Compensation never changes the educational content. The check's guidance is the same whether or not a partner exists for your situation, and where no partner exists, the screens simply show the free official resources.
The required Medicare disclosures
Organizations that generate leads or referrals in the Medicare market are called third-party marketing organizations (TPMOs) under federal rules, and those rules require plain statements of scope. Ours: we do not offer every plan available in your area, and we do not describe every plan available in your area. For a complete list of your options, contact Medicare.gov, call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227, TTY 1-877-486-2048), or contact California's free Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP) at 1-800-434-0222.
Editorial standards
- Every factual claim in our guides cites a primary source (Medicare.gov, SSA, CMS publications, or the California Insurance Code), with the date we last verified it.
- We publish category-level information only. We do not present specific plans' premiums, benefits, or star ratings, and we do not steer readers to any carrier.
- No testimonials, no invented statistics, no fabricated urgency. If a deadline on this site sounds scary, it's because the real deadline is.
